Senior Accountant (Biotechnology)

Salary: $135,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Track and accrue R&D contracts and clinical trial costs in collaboration with internal business owners and external vendors.
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, footnote disclosures, and audit support.
• Research technical accounting topics and prepare technical accounting memos for complex and non-routine transactions.
• Partner cross-functionally on variance analysis, financial reporting, ERP optimization, and close automation.
• Support public company readiness, registration statement filings, due diligence, and SOX 404 implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or public company experience in biotech, pharma, or life sciences.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, COSO framework, and IT General Controls.
• Strong Excel skills and close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with accounting and finance leaders.
• Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco, United States.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or progress toward CPA.
• Experience with public-company reporting and SOX compliance.
• Big Four or national public accounting firm experience.
