Testing & Commission Technician I (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona; support for the South-Central region of the US

Salary: USD $28.00–$56.10 per hour

What you will do

• Test and maintain electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor substation relays.
• Calibrate protective relays and apply settings according to standards and operational requirements.
• Program load tap changing and voltage regulator controllers.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relays and control devices in distribution substations.
• Plan and execute testing activities while meeting schedules and maintaining service continuity.
• Document testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations.

Requirements

• Knowledge of commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair of substation relaying and control schemes.
• Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and related software.
• Proficiency with test equipment, tools, wiring, wiring and elementary diagrams, basic testing, and PC tasks.
• Ability to learn and apply test procedures for different types of substation equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and/or relevant testing and commissioning experience.
