Hardware/Software Lab Technician

Location: San Diego, California, United States of America; onsite laboratory work

Salary: $29–$43 USD per hour for United States candidates only

What you will do

• Execute, monitor, and analyze standard and non-standard engineering experiments.
• Develop, implement, and maintain processes, tools, fixtures, and technical documentation.
• Write and modify scripts or software using technologies such as Python, C++, C#, XML, UNIX, TCL, and Visual Basic.
• Modify, configure, calibrate, and align electronic, software, mechanical, and computer-controlled equipment.
• Troubleshoot prototype units, test beds, equipment, operating systems, and installations down to the component level.
• Communicate failure causes, test results, schedules, and improvement recommendations to technicians and engineering partners.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Foundation in programming and basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and prioritize multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work independently, with little supervision, and in a team environment.
• Effective communication, networking, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to wear required PPE, distinguish colors, work in sitting positions, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
