Software Engineer, Senior (Java)

Location: Plano, Texas, United States; position based in Plano, TX

Toyota Financial Services provides finance and insurance products for Toyota and Lexus customers and supports dealer and consumer digital platforms across North America.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services and modern user interfaces for dealer and consumer journeys.
• Own features end-to-end, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build and maintain APIs for dealer workflows, pricing requests, and credit journeys.
• Contribute to architecture, performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, and operational decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions while improving engineering standards and maintainability.
• Mentor junior engineers and use AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed and code quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering production-grade systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices architectures, APIs, and event-driven messaging.
• Practical AWS experience, including ECS/Fargate, IAM, S3, and CloudWatch, plus Splunk or Dynatrace for production support.
• Frontend development experience with React, Next.js, or Vue and an understanding of data structures, schemas, logs, and metrics.
• Must be based in Plano, Texas, and have the right to work in the United States without current or future Toyota immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive or financial services.
• Exposure to distributed systems and high-availability platforms.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
• Experience contributing to platform standards, shared services, reusable frameworks, or technical initiatives.
