Lead Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid, requiring three days in the office each week in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; or Denver, Colorado. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Salary: $111,000–$140,000 annually, plus potential annual bonus.

What you will do

• Build, test, document, and support business applications using web and cloud technologies, APIs, and third-party frameworks.
• Lead design sessions and architectural analysis for end-to-end, system-level solutions across platforms.
• Develop microservices and REST-based APIs, integration services, and cloud solutions.
• Lead local, contract, and offshore software engineers while mentoring team members on design and coding standards.
• Recommend solutions based on business needs, costs, and system impacts.
• Prepare technical presentations, lead development meetings, and contribute to organization-wide standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Five years of Core Java experience and expertise with object-oriented design, functional programming, Spring, J2EE, dependency injection, and core architecture.
• Three years of database design experience, including relational, document, star-schema, or Kimball-model databases, plus familiarity with NoSQL technologies.
• Four years of cloud development experience, including AWS services and supporting tools.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, integration frameworks, build and deployment tools, and CI/CD using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or related technologies.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available, and relocation assistance will not be provided.

Nice to have

• Advanced analytics and machine learning knowledge, including data warehousing, ETL, and source-to-target mappings.
• AWS or other technology certifications.
• Financial services or insurance industry experience.
