Senior Backend Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; on-site

Compensation: $170,000–$205,000 per year plus bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for hirify.global Cloud's customer-facing platform.
• Own the API gateway, including routing, authentication and authorization, rate limiting, versioning, tracing, and tenant isolation.
• Build reliable notification and eventing systems with delivery guarantees, deduplication, retries, and user preference controls.
• Evolve quota, entitlement, resource management, provisioning, and onboarding systems for fast and correct infrastructure access.
• Contribute to architectural decisions supporting service reliability, maintainability, and production observability.
• Mentor engineers, improve hiring and onboarding practices, and collaborate with product and design teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience with Go, Rust, Java, or C++; services are primarily written in Go.
• Experience designing versioned public APIs using gRPC/protobuf or REST, including SDK, CLI, or Terraform provider surfaces.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant distributed systems and managed cloud services.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, transactions, isolation levels, locking, and safe online migrations.
• Practical experience with message queues or streaming systems such as Kafka, NATS, or Pub/Sub, plus asynchronous workflows and reconciliation loops.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, SLOs, and production on-call practices.

Nice to have

• Experience building or scaling a public cloud console or developer platform.
• Familiarity with AI/ML workload requirements, usage-based billing, or credits systems.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or neocloud infrastructure provider.
• Open-source contributions related to cloud-native infrastructure or developer experience.
