Senior Backend Engineer (Distributed Systems)

hirify.global is on a mission to democratize distributed computing by commercializing Ray, an open-source ecosystem for scalable machine learning used by industry leaders like OpenAI and Uber.

What you will do

• Develop high-quality open-source software to simplify distributed programming.
• Identify, implement, and evaluate architectural improvements to the Ray core.
• Optimize performance for large-scale workloads and enhance fault tolerance.
• Lead cross-team projects and mentor junior team members.
• Improve testing infrastructure to ensure smooth releases.
• Communicate technical work through talks, tutorials, and blog posts.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in San Francisco.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Extensive experience in C/C++ and low-level operating systems.
• Proven experience building scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Solid background in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Must have US work authorization (E-Verify company).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of distributed model training and inference (e.g., tensor parallel, pipeline parallel).
• Experience with GPU programming.
