Senior Transportation Analyst (Logistics)

Location: Detroit, MI, United States

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 annually, plus benefits, equity, and discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Analyze transportation costs, carrier rate agreements, freight charges, cost deviations, and root causes.
• Partner with Finance, Revenue, Operations, Planning, carriers, and other stakeholders to forecast freight costs and improve logistics processes.
• Develop cost trend analyses, business cases, and cost-reduction initiatives, including analytical support for carrier negotiations.
• Design and improve end-to-end logistics KPI monitoring for service levels, carrier performance, cost efficiency, and process efficiency.
• Build automated tools and dashboards, align data across internal systems and partner platforms, and provide insights to leadership.
• Create business and functional requirements for transportation solution development and resolve complex exceptions.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of relevant transportation or logistics industry experience, including senior leadership assignments or direct people management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transportation across all modes, with expertise in ecommerce, small-parcel transportation, and international cross-border operations.
• Experience leading complex projects or managing people, influencing stakeholders, and driving transformational change.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and creative-thinking skills with the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office suites, business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI, and data analysis tools including SQL, R, Python, dbt, and advanced Excel.

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with optimization, databases, financial reporting, transportation management systems, warehouse management systems, operations research models, or structured project management tools.
