Construction Tech I (Telecommunications)

Location: Rolla, Missouri, United States; onsite field work at assigned jobsites

What you will do

• Assist with aerial and underground construction projects for fiber optic, coaxial, and copper cable infrastructure.
• Install conduit, handholes, pedestals, cabinets, innerducts, vaults, row markers, utility poles, and associated hardware.
• Perform trenching, plowing, sawing, digging, horizontal drilling, and potholing using vacuum excavation.
• Operate construction vehicles and equipment, including backhoes, mini-excavators, plows, directional drills, compressors, and cable trailers.
• Pull cables through conduit, perform line maintenance and repairs, and assist with traffic control on roads and highways.
• Complete jobsite surveys, safety checks, progress documentation, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License and a good driving record; candidates without a CDL must obtain one within 30 days and a Class A CDL within six months.
• OSHA 10 construction certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
• Ability to climb utility poles or use extension ladders and safely load, transport, and operate heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to read safety and operating documents, interpret technical instructions, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Availability for day, evening, or night schedules, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and out-of-town assignments as required.

• Previous training or experience in construction or telecommunications.
