Underground Apprentice Lineman

Location: United States; the role involves physical overhead and underground utility construction, pole climbing, equipment operation, and outage response.

What you will do

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution lines under Foreman direction.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and remove power lines, poles, transformers, conductors, and lighting.
• Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, pickup trucks, excavation equipment, and track equipment.
• Prepare worksites, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies for line construction assignments.
• Assist ground crews and senior linemen with framing poles, laying wire, and connecting or disconnecting services.
• Respond to outages and customer problems to troubleshoot issues and restore power.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting primary and secondary systems, splicing operations, switching procedures, and riser construction.
• Ability to perform moderate overhead work and climb poles while following safety practices.
• Ability to read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, work orders, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Ability to handle emergency situations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, interruptions, and time constraints.
• English proficiency required for oral and written communication. Dependability, trustworthiness, and willingness to train for lineman responsibilities are also required.

Nice to have

• Lineman certification.
• OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification.
• Electrical Engineering graduate degree.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• CDL Class A license or NCCER certification.
