Construction & Implementation Technician III (Telecommunications)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States; field work across Alaska and occasional travel to the lower 48 states. Remote work is not eligible.

Compensation: $2,500 hiring bonus.

What you will do

• Construct, implement, maintain, test, repair, and turn up video, voice, and data network infrastructure across outside-plant, central-office, remote-office, and field environments.
• Install and modify racks, cabinets, cable trays, power distribution systems, grounding infrastructure, optical enclosures, and telecommunications equipment.
• Install, identify, terminate, test, and troubleshoot coaxial, Ethernet, optical, waveguide, data, and power cabling.
• Read and update system maps, engineering drawings, work orders, equipment readings, test parameters, repair tickets, and daily field documentation.
• Coordinate contract installers, technicians, electricians, and HVAC contractors while collaborating with engineering, operations, dispatch, leadership, and customers.
• Guide, train, and mentor junior technicians; respond to outages and escalate complex issues when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least eight years of telecommunications or related experience, including at least three years of complex network experience.
• NCTI System Technician certification, enrollment within 90 days with completion within six months, or an approved equivalent.
• Ability to work at heights, on poles and towers, in trenches, around electrical conductors and gas lines, and in difficult weather and remote conditions.
• Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, satisfactory driving record, and successful completion of a Defensive Driving course.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and emergency assignments.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in electronics or a related field, telecommunications trade school, or equivalent training.
• Tower-climber certification and other relevant telecommunications certifications.
