Senior DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL, United States

Base salary: $115,000–$140,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary performance bonus.

What you will do

• Own the AWS estate across production, QA, and shared-services accounts, including IAM, networking, EKS/ECS/Lambda, storage, logging, billing, and account strategy.
• Design, maintain, and improve infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containerized services, package dependencies, registries, and deployment automation.
• Establish operational control through observability, actionable alerting, incident response, tested backups and restores, runbooks, and recovery planning.
• Lead cloud cost optimization, EC2 right-sizing, managed-service adoption, capacity planning, and the infrastructure roadmap.
• Execute acquisition-related infrastructure separation, cloud account migrations, legacy workload decommissioning, and platform consolidation without disruption.
• Partner with Engineering, Data, Security, Compliance, and IT on reliable data platforms, access controls, SOC 2 evidence, and infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Operations, or Platform Engineering with production infrastructure ownership.
• Deep AWS experience across IAM, VPC/networking, EKS/ECS/Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, logging, backup/DR, and account strategy.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code skills, preferably Terraform, and Kubernetes deployment experience with Helm, jsonnet, or equivalent.
• Advanced Linux administration and scripting skills with Python, Bash, or equivalent.
• Experience operating CI/CD for containerized services, private package management, observability platforms, on-call rotations, and incident response.
• Experience with legacy-system modernization, M&A carve-outs, platform migrations, cloud account separation, data-center exits, AWS cost reduction, SOC 2, identity platforms, and data-platform infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitLab CI, container registries, SD-WAN or managed network platforms, and site-to-cloud connectivity.
• Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth environment requiring both speed and cost discipline.
