Location: Washington, DC, United States
Base salary: $190,000–$210,000 per year, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do
- Support the Head of Global Government Affairs in advancing legislative, regulatory, and political priorities globally.
- Anticipate political, social, and economic issues affecting the firm and its investments, and recommend appropriate responses.
- Create and execute government relations strategies and programs that strengthen the firm’s reputation and strategic positioning.
- Support portfolio companies in shaping their regulatory and government affairs strategies.
- Build and direct bipartisan relationships with Members of Congress, Governors, state leaders, the Administration, trade organizations, and industry groups.
- Engage Carlyle’s senior leadership and portfolio company leaders in strategic government affairs initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; a Juris Doctorate or MBA is highly desirable.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience required.
- Experience as a government relations executive at a major multinational company, in Congress, or in the Administration.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Congressional, Cabinet, Executive Agency, White House, Senate, and House policymaking processes.
- Ability to analyze legislative and regulatory issues, prioritize across a broad scope, and assess their global business impact.
- Strong communication, presentation, leadership, judgment, collaboration, and coalition-building skills.

- Specific industry experience relevant to the firm’s portfolio companies.
- Advanced degree such as a Juris Doctorate or MBA.
