TL;DR
Deputy Government Relations Leader (Public Policy and Government Affairs): Supporting the development and execution of federal, state, and local government affairs strategy with an accent on legislative analysis, policymaker engagement, and business alignment. Focus on developing policy positions and briefs, coordinating lobbying resources, managing regulatory compliance, and translating policy developments into client and business opportunities.

What you will do

  • Support the development and execution of the firm’s public policy and government affairs strategy.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments and provide actionable policy insights.
  • Build relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, Executive Branch officials, industry associations, and policy coalitions.
  • Align public policy priorities with business objectives, client service, business development, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Develop position papers, comment letters, testimony, policy briefs, and executive advocacy materials.
  • Coordinate external lobbying firms and consultants, while supporting reporting, performance management, risk, and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 12–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in federal policy development or government affairs.
  • Significant experience in senior Capitol Hill roles such as Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, or Policy Director, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong relationships with Members of Congress, congressional committees, key staff, government organizations, trade associations, and policy groups.
  • Deep knowledge of the federal legislative and regulatory process, including rulemaking and committee procedures.
  • Knowledge of lobbying laws, compliance requirements, ethical standards, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree such as JD, MPP, MBA, or a related field.
  • Experience with Senate Banking, House Financial Services, Senate Finance, Ways and Means, Appropriations, or Budget Committees.
  • Experience advising congressional or major policy organization leadership.
  • Background in professional services, financial services, or regulatory environments.
