TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics): Designing and validating low-cost, high-efficiency coil driver amplifiers for distributed motion control systems with an accent on current-controlled power electronics, FPGA-based control, and EtherCAT communication. Focus on developing stable multi-coil current loops, improving PCB reliability and EMI/EMC performance, and scaling control across tens to hundreds of actuators.

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on role and business needs.

Base salary: $118,265.18–$160,005.83 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

Company

hirify.global provides precision robotics, integrated automation systems, and contamination control solutions for semiconductor manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Design and develop half-bridge and H-bridge coil driver amplifiers for distributed motion control architectures operating at DC bus voltages up to 200V.
  • Develop closed-loop current control systems with precision sensing, PI/PID loops, and low-latency feedback across coils with varying inductance.
  • Implement or co-develop FPGA-based current-loop algorithms, high-performance PWM generation, and multi-channel SPI interfaces.
  • Develop driver modules within distributed EtherCAT networks and collaborate on control partitioning between central controllers and distributed nodes.
  • Select MOSFETs, gate drivers, sensing, protection, and filtering components; guide PCB layout for high-current switching and noise-sensitive analog circuits.
  • Define and execute design verification testing while improving cost, thermal efficiency, reliability, noise performance, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of experience in power electronics design.
  • Strong expertise in MOSFET-based half-bridge or full-bridge power stages and medium-voltage DC systems up to approximately 200V.
  • Hands-on experience with shunt and differential-amplifier current sensing and PI/PID control-loop design.
  • Experience designing for EMI/EMC robustness, thermal performance, reliability, and failure analysis.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, hardware debugging, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with FPGA-based control systems, including Lattice, Xilinx, or Zynq platforms.
  • Familiarity with EtherCAT or other distributed real-time control networks.
  • Experience with BLDC or SRM motor drives, electromagnetic or multi-coil actuators, high-channel-count systems, or real-time embedded control architectures.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative work across electrical, controls, and systems engineering.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Company-paid holidays and flexible vacation for exempt employees, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Equal-opportunity and inclusive workplace.
