Staff Systems Engineer and Product - Flight Operations Software (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in Westminster, Colorado; office attendance is expected Tuesday through Thursday, with work from home Monday and Friday. U.S. Person status is required.

Salary: $105,000–$140,000–$154,000 annually for positions within Colorado, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Own systems engineering and product ownership for Flight Operations Software spanning spacecraft commanding, real-time telemetry, ground systems, and mission operations.
• Translate mission and stakeholder needs into software capabilities, Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and prioritized backlog items.
• Develop system architectures and MBSE models covering behaviors, interfaces, dependencies, and operational flows.
• Define and maintain service APIs and interfaces between flight operations software and adjacent ground-system services.
• Drive technical decisions, integration, verification, deployment, and risk resolution across spacecraft, ground, operations, and software teams.
• Contribute to enterprise architecture, engineering practices, and the long-term roadmap for mission systems.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with aerospace, spacecraft, ground, command-and-control, or similarly complex technical systems.
• Experience with spacecraft command-and-control, space-to-ground architectures, telemetry flows, systems engineering, integration, verification, and operational deployment.
• Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering, defining service APIs and interfaces, and working with distributed software systems.
• Experience translating stakeholder needs into software requirements and working directly with Agile software teams across the development lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with spacecraft flight operations software, mission control systems, ground software, or command-and-control systems.
• Experience with REST, gRPC, publish/subscribe architectures, real-time telemetry pipelines, CCSDS, Space Packet Protocol, or CFDP.
• Experience with SysML and MBSE tools such as Ansys, Enterprise Architect, or Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevSecOps, containerized services, automated testing, and cloud or hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience with Jira Cloud, product roadmaps, mission systems, or other high-reliability operational systems.
