Focus on analyzing orbital perturbations, developing autonomous constellation-control strategies, and driving system-level trade studies from mission concept through end-of-life planning.
Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; Workplace: On-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
Salary: $158,000–$189,000 per year
Company
develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
What you will do
- Lead mission-analysis frameworks, simulation architectures, and modeling tools for LEO constellation design and optimization.
- Define constellation architecture, including sizing, orbital placement, coverage, scalability, and lifecycle operations.
- Lead system-level trade studies covering mission architectures, orbital configurations, communications performance, and operational concepts.
- Analyze orbital perturbations such as atmospheric drag, gravity-field variations, and solar radiation pressure.
- Develop strategies for station-keeping, orbit optimization, collision-risk mitigation, replenishment, replacement, and end-of-life disposal.
- Advise engineering, mission operations, program leadership, customers, and technical governance bodies while mentoring engineers and leading technical reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, astrodynamics, mechanical engineering, physics, systems engineering, applied mathematics, or a related technical field; a master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience may be considered.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in mission analysis, orbital mechanics, spacecraft systems, constellation design, or related aerospace disciplines.
- Deep expertise in LEO constellation design, architecture development, lifecycle operations, orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and spacecraft mission analysis.
- Advanced experience with simulation frameworks, mission-analysis toolchains, satellite operations, mission planning, and autonomous constellation management.
- Expert knowledge of communications-system performance and its impact on mission architecture, with strong mathematical, analytical, systems-thinking, and stakeholder-communication skills.
- Proficiency with STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer, or similar orbital-analysis tools; Python or similar analytical and modeling tools; Git or comparable version-control systems.
Culture & Benefits
- Hands-on, interactive, autonomous work in a dynamic, cross-functional engineering environment.
- Full-time employment with company stock options.
- Health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life, disability, and retirement benefits.
