TL;DR
Senior Electrical Controls Engineer (Electromechanical Products): Designing appliance electrical systems and controls from concept through production with an accent on PCB design, motor drive circuitry, product testing, and regulatory compliance. Focus on integrating third-party components, troubleshooting complex electrical and controls issues, leading NPI technical activities, and improving product reliability and cost.

Location: Mesa, Arizona, United States; onsite work in an office and manufacturing shop-floor environment.

What you will do

  • Design complete appliance electrical systems and controls from concept through production launch.
  • Create engineering specifications, technical strategies, drawings, models, and simulations to communicate design intent.
  • Lead electrical and controls activities across project teams, including manufacturing support, component integration, prototyping, and pre-production builds.
  • Develop and review test plans, procedures, test equipment, and LabVIEW-based test applications with DAQ hardware.
  • Investigate reliability, warranty, scrap, and cost issues using root cause analysis; drive design and BOM changes through revision control.
  • Work with customers, evaluate field installations, and recommend design modifications.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline is preferred.
  • 7–9 years of related experience, including electromechanical product development and electrical system design for appliances or consumer products.
  • Strong experience with electrical and controls engineering, NPI, risk analysis, FMEA/PFMEA, and complex technical troubleshooting.
  • Experience selecting and sizing AC/DC motors and variable-speed drive circuitry, plus PCB troubleshooting, debugging, schematic design, and PCB layout in Altium.
  • Practical knowledge of UL, CSA, CE, FCC, and IC regulatory requirements; leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
