Electrical Design Engineer (Industrial Controls)

What you will do

• Design, modify, analyze, document, and validate electrical systems and control systems for custom-engineered orders, existing products, and new product development.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams on requirements definition, technical reviews, documentation, and order support.
• Support production and field issues, component substitutions, product improvements, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations.
• Process engineering changes and maintain accurate drawings, bills of material, specifications, and revision-controlled product documentation.
• Select electrical components and work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and define purchasing and performance specifications.
• Develop design-validation, production-test, and troubleshooting procedures while supporting manufacturing, purchasing, applications, and service teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, engineering physics, electromechanical engineering, controls engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant experience in electrical design, control systems, engineered-to-order products, product support, or sustaining engineering.
• At least two years of experience with relay systems, including troubleshooting and working with relay-based electrical components.
• Ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics, technical specifications, bills of material, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to analyze technical problems, develop practical solutions, and communicate recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Full-time work at the Dubuque headquarters is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial electrical controls, electromechanical systems, motor controls, sensors, contactors, programmable controllers, or solid-state control devices.
• Familiarity with UL 507, UL 508A, NFPA 70, and other electrical, product-safety, and machine-safety standards.
• Experience with manufacturing support, engineering change management, product lifecycle management, and material requirements planning.
• Familiarity with embedded control systems and collaboration with firmware or software developers.
