Project Engineer - Extrusion (Plastics Manufacturing)

Location: 100% onsite at the Union (Pinckney), South Carolina facility, USA

Annual base salary: $110,00–$130,000

What you will do

• Qualify new extrusion tools and equipment and develop manufacturing standards.
• Inspect, sample, and modify tooling to establish stable production processes.
• Support part design reviews with emphasis on DFMEA and manufacturability.
• Transition new projects into manufacturing and implement process, quality, and efficiency improvements.
• Provide hands-on production-floor support, including troubleshooting molds, repairs, preventive maintenance, and refurbishments.
• Implement visual controls, standard work, and safety initiatives with plant leadership.

Requirements

• Four-year engineering degree preferred; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of plastics process engineering experience.
• Experience with plastics manufacturing, pipe and profile extrusion, polypropylene, polyethylene, and injection molding.
• Mechanical knowledge of process setup and molding equipment, including robotics, injection machines, molds, and heat-control systems.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, control charting, root cause analysis, Fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis, and SPC.
• Ability to interpret technical 2D and 3D drawings, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, communicate effectively, and work hands-on in a 24/5 plant environment.
