Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Team Leader, Plastics (L7)

Location: Acton, Massachusetts, United States; onsite at least 4 out of 5 days per week. Travel is estimated at 25–35%, including occasional international travel.

Annual base salary: $87,100–$130,600, with potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Supplier Quality Engineers supporting the plastics commodity.
• Own plastics supplier quality strategy, governance, KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, and risk management.
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, audits, performance improvement, corrective actions, and supplier change approvals.
• Provide technical leadership for injection molding, polymer materials, mold tooling, process validation, dimensional inspection, SPC, and reliability testing.
• Support new product introduction, supplier transfers, manufacturing line qualifications, capacity expansion, and global manufacturing initiatives.
• Present supplier performance, risks, mitigation strategies, and improvement opportunities to executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a master’s degree, in medical device Supplier Quality, Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• At least 2 years of technical leadership, project leadership, team leadership, or people management experience.
• Experience with plastics manufacturing, including injection molding, polymer materials, mold tooling, secondary operations, and plastic component suppliers.
• Knowledge of QMS, supplier quality systems, 21 CFR Part 820, 21 CFR Part 11, IPC-A-610, PPAP, DOE, process capability analysis, Gage R&R, control plans, SPC, failure analysis, and inspection methodologies.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing industries and supplier performance improvement programs.

Nice to have

• ASQ CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
• Experience leading global supplier quality initiatives and managing international supplier relationships.
