Focus on investigating infringement, managing outside counsel, supporting civil litigation, and assessing IP risks for product launches and commercial initiatives.
Location: Shanghai, China — 137 Guoshoujing Road. Occasional international travel and visits to Nordson and customer sites are required.

What you will do
- Develop and execute intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies in China with business leaders and global Legal and Intellectual Property teams.
- Conduct patent infringement analyses, validity assessments, and freedom-to-operate evaluations.
- Investigate suspected infringement and advise stakeholders on enforcement options, legal risks, and business implications.
- Prepare and manage enforcement actions, including cease-and-desist letters, evidence collection, administrative complaints, and dispute resolution proceedings.
- Coordinate outside counsel and support IP litigation strategy, case development, discovery, technical analysis, and witness coordination.
- Monitor competitor IP activity, support due diligence for acquisitions and partnerships, and manage enforcement budgets.
Requirements
- Minimum seven years of intellectual property enforcement experience, including patent infringement analysis, administrative enforcement actions, and litigation support or management.
- Law degree such as a Juris Doctor, LL.M., LL.B., or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Admission to practice law in the People’s Republic of China through the PRC Bar Examination, or successful completion of the CNIPA Patent Agent Examination, is required.
- Technical degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese patent law, IP enforcement procedures, administrative actions, and civil litigation processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and English.
Nice to have
- Both PRC Bar Examination and CNIPA Patent Agent Examination qualifications.
- Experience supporting multinational organizations and advising business stakeholders.
- Combined law firm and in-house experience.
