IP/Patent Counsel (Semiconductors)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; full-time, onsite role.

A global semiconductor technology company with an integrated intellectual property organization supporting business units, R&D groups, and senior management across Europe, the United States, and China.

What you will do

• Advise European and German subsidy and funding programs on IP matters, monitor IP generation, and collaborate with funding teams.
• Draft and negotiate NDAs, memoranda of understanding, grant agreements, project cooperation agreements, and development and collaboration agreements.
• Support European patent and technology licensing, litigation, defense, and other complex IP matters with in-house colleagues and outside counsel.
• Provide day-to-day IP counseling to business, R&D, and CTO teams.
• Draft patent applications for global protection, prosecute European patent applications, and manage outside counsel in Europe and elsewhere.
• Select inventions for patent protection and advise inventors.

Requirements

• Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science, with good knowledge of electronics and semiconductors.
• Fully or partially qualified European and/or German Patent Attorney.
• Experience in an industrial IP department or law firm.
• Experience drafting contracts focused on development and intellectual property terms and conditions.
• Fluent written and verbal German and English communication skills are required.
• Ability to organize work autonomously, manage time effectively, and operate as both client and service provider.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary global teams across different cultural environments.
• Open-minded, collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced multinational corporate environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with European and German subsidy and funding programs.
• French language skills.
