Senior Cloud Engineer (FinTech)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model. Candidates must independently be eligible to work in the United States for any employer. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $142,000–$183,000 USD per year for San Francisco, plus discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize scalable, secure, cost-effective AWS cloud infrastructure for mission-critical applications and data migration from on-premise systems.
• Build and maintain cloud-native environments using EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, EKS, Kubernetes, Linux, Docker, and related AWS services.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents, perform root cause analysis, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Implement disaster recovery, high availability, fault tolerance, cloud security, IAM policies, VPC designs, encryption, and KMS key management.
• Develop Terraform infrastructure as code, CI/CD practices, vulnerability management, patching, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Partner with engineering, security, compliance, and audit teams to plan, document, and deliver infrastructure through production.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in Cloud Engineering or DevOps, including 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Strong expertise in AWS core services, Kubernetes/EKS, Linux, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and mature DevOps practices.
• Experience delivering business-critical systems and implementing observability at scale for complex transactional systems.
• Experience implementing security and compliance controls aligned with PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or FFIEC.
• Current AWS or other cloud certification, strong documentation and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize work in ambiguous situations.
• United States work eligibility required; visa sponsorship unavailable. Background and drug screening required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, Twistlock, or Aqua Security.
• Experience with C#, Ruby, or Python.
• Knowledge of ACH/EFT, RTP, FedNow, fintech, banking, or other highly regulated industries.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
