Senior Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Richmond, VA or Lynchburg, VA; hybrid work is required with in-office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Core hours target 9am–5pm EST.

Salary: $96,700–$145,000 nationally; $91,900–$138,000 in Lynchburg. Bonus incentive eligibility is included.

What you will do

• Design, implement, operate, and support foundational AWS platform services across the enterprise.
• Build AWS landing zones, account structures, resource organization standards, governance guardrails, and shared cloud services.
• Engineer AWS networking and hybrid connectivity, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Route 53, PrivateLink, VPC Endpoints, Direct Connect, DNS, routing, and segmentation.
• Implement IAM, Identity Center, role-based access controls, security policies, and enterprise governance standards.
• Develop secure, repeatable Terraform infrastructure and platform automation pipelines.
• Troubleshoot complex platform issues, improve observability and reliability, support application teams, and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, platform engineering, or related technology roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS platform operations, networking, identity, security services, governance controls, and hybrid cloud integration.
• Experience managing Terraform configurations, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Git-based workflows.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, EKS, and cloud-native technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work the required hybrid schedule and support production cloud environments during EST business hours.
