Senior Manager, Software Engineering (AI)

Base salary: $120,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect and build AI-native applications and agentic workflows from prototype through production.
• Define patterns for agent orchestration, prompt and context engineering, tool and API integrations, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop review.
• Establish evaluation, testing, observability, security, and maintainability practices for AI-assisted software.
• Build the engineering platform, including repositories, CI/CD pipelines, environments, model access, guardrails, and AI development tooling.
• Create paved-road templates, reference implementations, and internal libraries while setting standards for code quality, security, and performance.
• Partner with project teams, field staff, and corporate functions to deliver software for decentralized operational environments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including staff- or principal-level technical leadership beyond a single team.
• Expert hands-on experience with coding agents, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, tool and API integrations, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation.
• Experience shipping cloud-native services, APIs, web and mobile applications, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Strong architectural judgment, with the ability to move from rapid prototyping to hardened production systems.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and introduce new tools and practices into an existing organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
