Engineer II, Software Automation

Location: Full-time onsite position in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $80,000–$105,000 per year, plus eligibility for up to a 10% annual performance bonus

What you will do

• Develop, execute, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and infrastructure for instrument and system-level testing.
• Build reusable test libraries, device interfaces, protocol libraries, simulators, and emulators for isolated and reproducible testing.
• Automate system, integration, functional, regression, communication protocol, performance, and reliability testing across microservice and hybrid cloud environments.
• Validate data and protocol integrations between in-house devices, third-party devices, and downstream services.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and develop automated execution, logging, reporting, and results-analysis solutions.
• Collaborate with Test, Software, Systems, Hardware, Quality, and Development Engineering teams to improve testability, observability, and product quality.

Requirements

• 2–3 or more years of experience in software development, test automation, software verification, or a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of software verification and validation methodologies.
• Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages such as Python, C#, C++, or Java.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD systems, defect tracking, test management tools, and modern software development practices.
• Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies, with strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field. Effective English communication and technical documentation skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulation, or related software quality standards.
• Experience with VMware ESXi, pytest, TestNG, healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or WCTP, AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
