Credit Underwriter (Agriculture)

Location: Rocklin, Woodland, or Yuba City, California; hybrid flexibility is available after an initial in-office training period. Relocation assistance is available to eligible candidates who must relocate.

Salary: $72,600–$144,100 annual base salary depending on level and location, plus a 12% or 15% annual performance-based incentive target.

What you will do

• Gather customer, business, tax, and other financial information through interviews and research.
• Analyze financial statements, credit applications, small and medium-sized loan portfolios, and pro forma statements.
• Prepare credit analyses and recommendations while maintaining appropriate classifications, reserves, and loan administration.
• Conduct credit investigations, including public record, credit bureau, employment, income, asset, and liability verification.
• Complete farm visits and collateral inspections, participate in loan closings, and coordinate documentation with relationship managers.
• Research agricultural industries and commodities, support large-loan processes, and represent AgWest at agricultural and community events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, agriculture-related studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Generally five years of accounting or financial industry experience.
• Knowledge of applicable credit laws, regulations, bankruptcy law, collection procedures, credit classifications, and sound loan administration.
• Ability to market, sell, and negotiate terms for loan programs, interest rate programs, and related financial services.
• Knowledge of appraisal techniques and principles.
• Ability to travel to customer operations and complete farm visits and collateral inspections.
