Underwriter (Crop Insurance)

Location: Remote - Nebraska, USA

Salary: $49,500–$80,000 per year, including geographic adjustments where applicable.

What you will do

• Review policy applications and annual policy documents for crop insurance coverage, accurate rating, eligibility, and compliance with federal and company guidelines.
• Prepare quotations and respond to brokers, agents, policyholders, prospects, the Risk Management Agency, and regional service offices.
• Verify policy rates using RMA and hirify.global quoting applications, and use automated underwriting and processing systems for new and renewal policies.
• Request documentation, review endorsements and cancellations, and approve, deny, or recommend decisions within delegated authority.
• Research and resolve Federal Crop Insurance Corporation error items, interpret FCIC documents, and revise acreage reports.
• Meet sales closing, acreage reporting, production reporting, accounting, and fund designation deadlines while supporting colleagues and business development.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
• Ability to interpret policy and federal insurance documentation and comply with underwriting procedures and government regulations.

• Previous agriculture or crop insurance industry experience.
