Staff Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model. Candidates must independently have eligibility to work in the United States for any employer at the date of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $174,000–$223,000 USD per year in San Francisco, plus eligibility for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Define technical strategy, architecture, design, prototypes, and implementation for complex product and technology requirements.
• Build technical plans and backlogs, lead execution, and deliver solutions through production.
• Own features and systems, improve long-term system health, and resolve production issues with support and operations teams.
• Design and implement tests covering application quality, performance, and scalability.
• Represent engineering in cross-functional work with product managers, designers, and other engineering groups.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and practices while supporting risk management and data security.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years developing distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, or microservices.
• 6+ years of Java and Spring experience, with proficiency in Maven or Gradle.
• Experience delivering business-critical systems and designing scalable systems.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging frameworks such as Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, testing, secure coding, SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and DevOps practices; background and drug screening required.
