Staff Engineer - Platform Engineering (Kubernetes)

Location: Scottsdale, with a hybrid work model; similar positions are located in San Francisco, Chicago, or New York. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer.

Base pay: $145,000–$186,000 USD per year for Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL, plus eligibility for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for Platform Engineering and data platform infrastructure.
• Architect, design, prototype, build, implement, automate, and document platform solutions.
• Lead high-impact technical projects from inception through implementation across engineering and product teams.
• Develop technical plans, drive execution, and make critical tradeoff decisions with cross-team impact.
• Build cross-functional relationships and provide technical leadership across the organization.
• Mentor junior engineers on techniques, tools, and best practices while supporting system and data integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 8 years of related industry experience.
• Strong experience with on-premises and AWS cloud infrastructure, containers, and orchestration using Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices, pipelines, and code management platforms such as Harness, GitLab, and Artifactory.
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, plus experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, or Shell.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer; visa sponsorship is not available. A background and drug screen are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional certification.
• FinTech experience.
