Lead Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid, three days a week at a Guardian location in Holmdel, New Jersey, or Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Salary: $118,980.00–$195,465.00 base pay annually, with possible additional incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate enterprise cloud application platforms and automation ecosystems.
• Own the Amazon EKS platform lifecycle, including cluster architecture, upgrades, node, AMI, and add-on management.
• Build CI/CD and infrastructure automation with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Python, and Shell.
• Support web services, APIs, background services, containerized workloads, and serverless workflows using AWS Lambda and Step Functions.
• Implement validation controls, security gates, rollback mechanisms, observability, monitoring, and security scanning.
• Lead production incident escalation and root cause analysis while mentoring engineers and partnering with application, security, observability, and architecture teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes and Amazon EKS experience, including production operations and upgrades.
• Experience troubleshooting Linux systems, containers, Docker, networking, CI/CD, security, and observability tooling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Terraform, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Experience operating enterprise-scale platforms used by multiple application teams.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship is required.
