Principal Software Development Engineer (Cloud Platform)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; U.S. citizenship is required. The role may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, and the flexible work model requires at least 50% of each quarter in the office or field.

Annual base salary: $191,500–$287,300 for Reston and $173,300–$309,600 for additional U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Manage and optimize hirify.global deployments in air-gapped U.S. AWS cloud regions.
• Design, develop, debug, and document deployment and support software.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and analytics that improve deployment flexibility and reduce costs.
• Partner with the Federal Cyber Defense team on security operations, governance, risk, compliance, and platform security health.
• Collaborate with commercial software engineering teams and other groups to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required for work on federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience deploying large-scale, complex applications, including 3+ years of cloud deployments on AWS or GCP.
• 4+ years of experience with automation tools and languages including Ansible, Python, Go, Chef, and Puppet, plus CI/CD, build management, and monitoring.
• Experience with networks, servers, storage, operating systems, deployment orchestration, and automation frameworks in cloud environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering and automation experience.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
• Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, network troubleshooting, Unix/Linux, Jira, Agile/Scrum, and production deployment automation.
