Motorsports Performance Engineer

Location: In-person role based in New Hudson, Michigan, United States, with travel required for race and test events.

Pay range: $64,500–$103,500 per year.

What you will do

• Prepare hardware, processes, vehicles, documentation, and objectives for race and test events.
• Analyze vehicle data, simulation results, historical information, and performance sensitivities to support setup and race strategy.
• Operate performance and race-strategy software toolchains and distribute processed vehicle data.
• Support vehicle setup, hardware integration, subsystem development, and offsite testing.
• Coordinate communication between senior race engineers, trackside personnel, remote resources, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop reporting processes, engineering tools, and documentation for event and vehicle-performance projects.

Requirements

• BS in engineering or another advanced technical field.
• At least 5 years of motorsport experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematics, aerodynamics, and tires.
• Experience reviewing experimental and simulation results and familiarity with vehicle simulation and modeling.
• Ability to set goals, manage deliverables, communicate across teams, and work under high-pressure time constraints.
• Ability to work in person in Michigan and travel 40–80 days per year as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with data acquisition systems such as PI Toolbox, PI Workshop, Bosch WinDarab, Bosch RaceCon, or Marelli Wintax.
• Experience with data review and processing using Matlab, Excel, Python, or Visual.
