TL;DR
Planning Leader, Cultural + Performing Arts (Urban Planning/Design): Leading planning and urban design projects for arts, entertainment, museum, and performing arts facilities with an accent on community engagement, equity, sustainability, and resiliency. Focus on developing long-range plans, capital planning recommendations, complex-site concepts, client networks, and interdisciplinary project teams.

Location: Hybrid role based in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, or another hirify.global office; four days per week in the office with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Lead and grow the regional and national planning and urban design practice for cultural and performing arts projects.
  • Develop client networks, identify opportunities, and support business development across arts, entertainment, museums, municipalities, organizations, and institutions.
  • Lead planning and urban design project teams, technical development, pursuits, interviews, presentations, and client meetings.
  • Write narratives and develop recommendations for capital planning involving facilities, open space, and infrastructure.
  • Contribute conceptual design and planning expertise to complex sites across varied social, environmental, and geographic contexts.
  • Promote equity, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, and align deliverables with QA/QC, practice standards, and firm protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related construction-industry field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in planning and/or urban design.
  • Experience leading arts- and entertainment-related planning projects, client communications, and community engagement.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work within the specified hybrid office model in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Professional licensure, AICP, LEED AP, or another sustainability-related certification.
  • Graduate degree in urban planning and/or urban design.
