Structural Engineer IV

Location: Rockville, Maryland, USA; regional coverage includes the Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington, DC metro areas. Full-time, onsite role.

What you will do

• Establish, grow, and represent hirify.global’s Northeast structural engineering practice.
• Lead structural design approaches, technical decisions, interdisciplinary coordination, constructability reviews, and QA/QC for significant projects.
• Define structural scope, deliverables, assumptions, and design quality from pursuit through closeout; serve as Engineer of Record when appropriate.
• Plan staffing, participate in recruiting and interviews, onboard new hires, and develop engineers through mentoring and feedback.
• Oversee resource planning, forecasting, workload balancing, project performance, budgets, schedules, change management, and profitability.
• Support client relationships, proposals, business development, technical standards, tools, training, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 10 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting engineering or AEC design.
• PE license required; SE license preferred where applicable.
• Experience leading structural scope, budgets, schedules, technical coordination, and quality on complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of structural systems, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
• Experience mentoring engineers, coordinating technical work, planning workloads, supporting recruiting, and communicating with clients and senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience leading a structural group, office, discipline team, or major project portfolio.
• Experience in life sciences, food and beverage, industrial, manufacturing, or other complex technical facility markets.
• Experience with business development, proposal strategy, client engagement, or regional market growth.
• Experience developing structural standards, tools, training, technical guidance, or lessons learned.
