Engineer Intern - Systems (Summer 2027) (Mechanical Engineering)

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

McNeilus, an Oshkosh company, designs and manufactures refuse truck bodies, including rear-load, front-load, and automated side-load systems.

What you will do

• Support design, production, manufacturing, industrial, and test engineers with mechanical engineering tasks.
• Follow projects on the assembly floor and provide technical assistance.
• Evaluate, model, design, and test mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Evaluate and update hydraulic circuits, refine system controls, and improve system performance.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
• Manage Engineering Change Notices, update bills of materials in the PDM system, and investigate system failures to determine root causes.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field for the entire internship.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and effective oral and written communication skills.
• Be able to read hydraulic symbols and schematics.

Nice to have

• Previous internship or work-related experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks or a similar CAD system.
• Formula SAE, Baja SAE, SAE Clean Snowmobile, or similar engineering club experience.
