Engineer Intern - Electrical (Summer 2027)

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

hirify.global Corporation's Pierce Manufacturing business designs and builds customized fire and emergency trucks, including pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue units.

What you will do

• Design electrical systems and prepare engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and reference documentation using computer-aided design software.
• Create bills of material, select materials, and dimension and tolerance drawings for proper assembly fit.
• Prepare engineering change notices and coordinate with suppliers.
• Support customer service and manufacturing teams with electrical and multiplexing-related field problems, questions, features, and upgrades.
• Support Production Specialists with option configuration and check your own work and the work of others.
• Optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency by reducing parts, waste, cost, and defect opportunities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field for the entire duration of the internship.
• Professional oral and written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and follow drafting standards and department policies.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck electrical applications and communication networks.
• Experience with CATIA V5, SmarTeam, SolidWorks, CATIA V5 Electrical, Zuken E³ Enterprise, Medusa, or AutoCAD.
• Experience designing wiring schematics, reference drawings, and wire harnesses.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including value streams, 5S, the seven types of waste, and project planning.
