Engineer Intern - Controls (Summer 2027)

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

What you will do

• Assist with power and controls engineering tasks for vehicles and airport equipment.
• Prepare component layouts and schematics using CAD software such as Siemens NX.
• Select components based on performance, weight, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production builds on the assembly floor and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
• Design, model, prototype, test, deploy, and verify power conversion, controls, software, and equipment code changes.
• Update bills of materials and assist with complete-vehicle and component testing.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field throughout the internship.
• Basic electrical and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics and understand panel layouts or 3D conduit and wire routing.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Work is based in Roy, Utah, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens NX, CODESYS, C/C++, TwinCAT, or Copia.
• Previous internship or work-related experience and extracurricular activities.
• Fundamental knowledge of power conversion.
• Interest or experience in boarding bridges, pre-conditioned air, or ground power for commercial and military applications.
