Senior Product Engineer, Electrical (AI)

Location: Onsite Monday through Friday at the Pico Rivera, California office; occasional domestic travel may be required for customer and vendor meetings.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for a discretionary year-end bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the design, prototyping, validation, approval, and launch of lighting and connected home products.
• Manage projects through a structured phase-gate process, resolving technical challenges and coordinating delivery with factories, product management, sales, graphics, purchasing, and supply partners.
• Validate and approve products using DV and FAA procedures, UL/ETL safety reports, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Apply AI tools to design analysis, compliance review, ECO triage, root-cause analysis, test data, field returns, supplier specifications, and engineering knowledge automation.
• Identify and pilot AI capabilities, create playbooks and lightweight automations, and critically evaluate AI output against engineering, safety, and manufacturability requirements.
• Mentor Product Engineers, lead design reviews, and share engineering and AI-enabled workflow best practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in new product development and project management in an individual contributor role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Deep understanding of electrical specifications, LED drivers, lighting systems, schematics, installations, and wiring diagrams, with the ability to provide sound design recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience applying AI/LLM tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot to engineering or product development tasks, including strong prompt-engineering skills.
• Strong judgment in validating AI output against engineering standards, UL and safety requirements, and real-world manufacturability constraints.
• Familiarity with DMMs, oscilloscopes, and DC and AC power supply design.
• Proficiency with Asana and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, analytical, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage multiple urgent projects and collaborate across departments.
• Ability to work onsite and perform hands-on prototype testing, including prolonged periods sitting or standing at a computer monitor.
• Ability to lift and carry objects over 50 pounds and perform standing, bending, kneeling, sitting, reaching, pushing, and pulling tasks while following safety protocols.

Nice to have

• LED lighting experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted document parsing, specification extraction, test-report drafting, and code or script generation for test automation.
• Experience building lightweight no-code, Python, or scripting workflows that combine AI with internal data and tools.
• Curiosity and self-direction to pilot AI capabilities and translate proven practices into team-wide standards.
