Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Livermore, California; regular day shift

What you will do

• Develop production-ready electrical designs for advanced wafer probe card solutions that meet customer requirements, design standards, performance targets, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Interpret technical specifications and create, analyze, and validate logical designs, schematics, and netlists using proprietary and commercial design tools.
• Apply impedance control, power distribution networks, signal integrity, digital and analog circuit design, and physical routing considerations.
• Translate customer requirements into electrical and logical requirements for physical designers supporting space transformers and PCBs.
• Coordinate multiple design projects from requirements review through production release, managing scope, schedules, milestones, deliverables, quality, and risks.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, Sales, Marketing, PCB and Substrate Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and geographically dispersed technical teams; improve design tools and processes and mentor developing engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or a PhD without experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design fundamentals, including impedance control, power distribution networks, signal integrity, and digital and analog circuit design.
• Solid understanding of physical routing, differential-pair routing, high-speed design, and related PCB layout practices.
• Ability to interpret complex technical requirements and translate them into practical electrical design solutions.
• Experience developing and validating logical designs, netlists, schematics, or related electrical design documentation.
• Experience with Cadence Allegro, Siemens PADS, AutoCAD, or similar engineering design tools.
• Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, communication, project management, and technical accuracy skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple technical projects, work across engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and customer-facing organizations, and meet established schedules.
• Ability to train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to less-experienced team members.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of multilayer PCB and ceramic or organic substrate design and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of or experience with semiconductor test, wafer probing, semiconductor manufacturing, or related technologies.
