Facilities Technician II (GMP)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; primarily onsite. The role follows a 10-hour shift, four days per week, typically Wednesday through Saturday, with weekend walkthroughs and participation in an off-hours on-call rotation.

Annual salary: $63,800–$78,900 USD, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and equity incentives.

What you will do

• Perform and document corrective and preventive maintenance on GMP facility equipment, utility systems, laboratory instruments, and process equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, mechanical, and building-system issues using drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Maintain HVAC, cold storage, compressed air and gas, RO and WFI water, wastewater, clean steam, fire protection, boiler, pump, and motor systems.
• Maintain GMP laboratory and manufacturing equipment, including bioreactors, filling machines, centrifuges, rockers, chromatography columns, autoclaves, and glass washers.
• Respond to emergency service calls, perform weekend walkthroughs, and participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Follow safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, GDP, and GMP requirements, including appropriate protective equipment use.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and direct work experience; a college degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience working in a GMP or other regulated environment.
• Ability to work independently, make effective decisions, troubleshoot technical issues, manage time, and collaborate across departments.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work successfully in a team.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, or equivalent software.
• Ability to work onsite in a controlled GMP environment, wear gowning and protective clothing, climb ladders and stairs, and lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Respirator use may require advance medical clearance.

Nice to have

• Maintenance experience in a GMP biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Building Management Systems and Computerized Maintenance Monitoring System software.
• Licensure in wastewater treatment, refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical work, or plumbing.
