Technician Facilities - Central Utility Plant (2nd Shift)

Location: Fully onsite in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States; Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, with rotational weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

Salary: $43,100–$70,600 per year, plus a 10% second-shift differential.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems supporting site heating and cooling.
• Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical utility systems, including boilers, high-temperature hot water, chillers, and compressed air systems.
• Perform planned, preventive, and corrective maintenance while maintaining equipment reliability.
• Provide line support to manufacturing, office, and laboratory customers, including assistance with equipment installation and upgrade projects.
• Support building maintenance, gas services, high-voltage and electrical systems, and chemical operations.
• Follow environmental, health, safety, security, and equipment operating requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated troubleshooting skills and technical aptitude.
• At least 3–4 years of relevant mechanical systems experience, including experience with boilers, high-temperature hot water, chillers, or compressed air.
• Familiarity with computers and fluency in Microsoft 365 programs.
• Fluent written and verbal English is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand or walk for up to 8 hours, and wear required personal protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of mechanical or electrical systems operations and maintenance experience.
• Associate degree in HVAC, electronics, or a mechanical field.
• Industrial or commercial systems experience.
• Understanding of system design parameters, safety and environmental shutdown scenarios, and electronic equipment controls.
• Project management skills and the ability to develop and execute solutions in ambiguous situations.
