Onsite Laboratory Technician

Location: Blackwater Gold Mine Site, Prince George/Vanderhoof, Canada; onsite with rotating two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out day and night shifts. Preference is given to candidates located in the Prince George/Vanderhoof area. Accommodation, meals, and shuttle bus are provided.

Salary: CAD 27.40 per hour

What you will do

• Receive, identify, sort, dry, crush, pulverize, screen, weigh, catalogue, store, and dispose of laboratory samples.
• Perform fire assay, acid digestion, sample dilution, analytical determinations, instrumentation, and batch analysis.
• Log samples accurately in LIMS, retrieve samples when required, and return or dispose of samples according to procedure.
• Calibrate, set up, maintain, and document laboratory equipment, standards, reagents, supplies, work orders, and maintenance logs.
• Interpret and evaluate results, complete batch quality control, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Follow health, safety, environmental, quality, integrity, and professional conduct protocols, including safe disposal of lead, cyanide, and acid waste.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in a science-related program such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Environmental Science is an asset.
• Strong analytical and mechanical skills, good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and effective time management.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, under pressure, during high-volume workloads and extended shifts.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions accurately and safely.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and laboratory information systems; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidates for Canadian openings must be authorized to work in Canada.
