Sr. Sample Log-In Technician

Location: 3260 Production Way, Burnaby, BC V5A 4R4, Canada; onsite laboratory role

Salary: CAD 23–30 per hour

What you will do

• Verify chains of custody, compare received samples with documentation, record discrepancies, and log samples into LIMS using the correct analytical test codes.
• Route, sort, transfer, package, ship, track, and dispose of samples and reusable media according to laboratory procedures.
• Coordinate courier activity, workflow prioritization, workload distribution, and operational communication when the Sample Management Supervisor is unavailable.
• Review reports, invoices, documentation, and departmental processes for accuracy and improvement.
• Support the Quality Management System and ISO 17025 compliance, investigate non-conformances, and initiate corrective actions.
• Train new personnel and act as the primary operational contact during supervisor absences.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in sample management or laboratory operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.
• Ability to prioritize samples by holding times and turnaround expectations and manage multiple competing demands.
• Proficiency with LIMS or related systems is preferred.
• Flexibility to respond to sudden and unpredictable operational needs and work with minimal supervision.
• Candidates for Canadian job openings must be authorized to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Four-year degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with laboratory quality systems and ISO 17025 compliance.
