Automotive Finish Painter (Industrial Painting)

Location: Appleton, Wisconsin, United States; onsite work

Salary: Minimum starting rate of $26.33 per hour, based on experience and education. Shift premiums may apply.

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, builds customized fire and emergency trucks designed for demanding operating conditions.

What you will do

• Apply primer, paint, and sealer to truck frames, doors, body parts, and subassemblies.
• Prepare parts using hand tools, power tools, sanding, filing, grinding, caulking, taping, and hanging techniques.
• Inspect painted parts, identify unpainted areas and defects, and complete repainting or repairs.
• Transport parts and equipment, push or pull carts, and assist coworkers with lifting and positioning materials.
• Mix paint, manage paint waste, operate equipment such as forklifts when required, and maintain paint tools.
• Keep the work area clean and safe while completing check sheets, notes, and other production documentation.

Requirements

• Proficiency in reading checklists, paint codes, safety logs, job safety analyses, work orders, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of all stages of the paint process and fine line painting.
• Ability to cross-train and communicate effectively with coworkers.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment and safely operate painting and spraying tools.
• Ability to distinguish paint colors and shades and apply primer and paint evenly.
• Ability to lift and manipulate parts, equipment, and tools weighing up to 75 pounds, climb steps or ladders, and work in crouched, kneeling, or other awkward positions.

Nice to have

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years of industrial painting experience or an evaluated equivalent.
• Painting certifications.
