Mechanical Assembler (Manufacturing)

Location: Fairfield, New Jersey, USA; onsite

Compensation: $24–$26 per hour

What you will do

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, electrical schematics, manuals, and written or verbal instructions.
• Assemble complex mechanical units and integrate subassemblies with accurate fitting, alignment, timing, leveling, and balancing.
• Build and wire small electrical controls and motors used in the equipment.
• Inspect components with calipers, scales, gauges, and other precision instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Test machinery before shipment and assist customers with in-plant acceptance tests.
• Install, start up, service, and repair equipment; train customer personnel and document service and setup data.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical assembly skills and knowledge of assembly techniques.
• High problem-solving ability, precision, care, and skilled workmanship.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, hoists, forklifts, and precision measuring instruments safely.
• Ability to inspect parts and assemblies against manufacturing specifications and tolerances.
• Ability to follow safety, testing, housekeeping, and equipment documentation procedures.
