Test Technician — General Safety (Product Safety & NRTL Certification)

Location: Suwanee, Georgia, USA; onsite role with up to 10–15% business travel.

Salary: USD 27.00–30.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform electrical and mechanical product safety testing against UL, IEC, Canadian, and other international standards.
• Set up and execute test plans covering dielectric withstand, ground bond and continuity, abnormal operation, temperature rise, leakage current, and mechanical strength or impact testing.
• Prepare test samples, coordinate logistics and utility requirements, and record and analyze test data.
• Write work instructions for complex test setups and support technical report preparation.
• Support RFQ scoping and certification proposals by helping define standards, test scope, and timelines.
• Conduct factory or field follow-up inspections and maintain testing equipment and facilities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–4 years of hands-on experience in product safety testing, compliance engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation, including dielectric testers, ground bond testers, thermocouples, data loggers, leakage current testers, oscilloscopes, mechanical fixtures, and soldering or desoldering.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organization, time management, and independent working skills.
• Microsoft Office experience and a customer-focused, quality-driven approach.

Nice to have

• Exposure to hazardous-location or explosion-protection standards, functional safety, risk assessment, ISO 12100, or FMEA.
• Experience with battery-powered or power-electronics-related products.
• Familiarity with UL 62368-1, UL 60730-1, IEC 61010-1, UL 508, UL 972, UL 1081, UL 1559, or IEC 60601-1.
