Test Technician — General Safety (Product Safety & NRTL Certification)

Location: Suwanee, Georgia, USA; full-time, onsite role. Travel of up to 10–15% may be required.

Salary: $27.00–$30.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform electrical, mechanical, construction, and product safety evaluations against UL, IEC, Canadian, and international standards.
• Conduct dielectric withstand, ground continuity, abnormal operation, temperature rise, leakage current, mechanical strength, and impact testing.
• Set up and operate laboratory instrumentation, prepare samples, and build or calibrate test fixtures using hand tools.
• Record and analyze test data, perform routine calculations, and maintain test equipment and facilities.
• Prepare work instructions, Test Report Forms, Construction Data Forms, compliance correspondence, technical reports, and certification justifications.
• Support RFQ scoping, certification proposals, client programs, and factory or field follow-up inspections.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–4 years of hands-on experience in product safety testing, compliance engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with dielectric testers, ground bond testers, thermocouples, data loggers, leakage current testers, oscilloscopes, mechanical fixtures, or related laboratory equipment.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Strong verbal, written, technical writing, organization, time management, and client communication skills.
• Microsoft Office experience and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

Nice to have

• Exposure to hazardous-location or explosion-protection standards, functional safety, risk assessment, ISO 12100, or FMEA.
• Experience with battery-powered or power-electronics-related products.
• Familiarity with UL 62368-1, UL 60730-1, IEC 61010-1, UL 508, UL 972, UL 1081, or UL 1559.
• Experience with IEC 60601-1.
