Tool and Die Maker (Manufacturing)

Location: Memphis, TN, USA (President Island); onsite, 12-hour night shift on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Wage: $39.41 per hour

What you will do

• Maintain, repair, fit, and assemble tooling, dies, machines, and production equipment.
• Set up and operate lathes, grinders, mills, hones, drill presses, and other machine tools.
• Review blueprints and work orders, create part drawings or sketches, and calculate dimensions, tapers, and indices.
• Perform preventive maintenance, tooling inspections, precision machining, and finishing work.
• Complete work order documentation, maintain logbooks, and manage parts removed from the storeroom.
• Support plant safety and food safety programs and provide on-the-job training to assigned personnel.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in tooling fabrication and die assembly for high-speed or conversion presses preferred.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, telescope gauges, and dial indicators.
• Ability to read machinist drawings and blueprints and accurately transfer measurements to parts.
• Experience operating engine lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment to tolerances of up to ±.000050.
• Knowledge of boring, drilling, reaming, tapping, surface grinding, polishing, and tool and die work.
• Basic math, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry skills, plus functional computer use; familiarity with welding and oxy-acetylene torches.
